Porting Software to NetBSD

Challenge

NetBSD is a portable Unix operating system with the pkgsrc packaging framework. Many third-party packages target Linux first and need adaptation to build and run reliably on NetBSD.

Approach

I port, test, and maintain selected packages and operational repositories used in production customer environments.

Maintained Packages

  • Cyrus IMAP 3.0 - enterprise-ready mail and groupware server
  • Zim - desktop wiki application
  • xtrlock - lightweight X11 screen-lock utility

Beyond individual ports, I maintain a dedicated package repository for NetBSD installations in customer environments.
