Event-Driven Automation

Challenge

The client operated a central two-tier database application based on Oracle and other proprietary technologies. Process analysis showed recurring delays because follow-up tasks learned about completed predecessor tasks too late.

Approach

After identifying key database events (for example status-field changes), I implemented a microservice that receives and forwards events via a message bus. This enabled push-based notifications and, more importantly, automated preparation of subsequent tasks through specialized services.

Snapshot

  • Industry: Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Time frame: 2021
  • Architecture: Microservices
  • Technologies
    • Python
    • RabbitMQ
    • Nameko
    • Oracle CQN

The solution significantly increased automation and reduced lead times while staying resilient and scalable.
